I received this laptop from my office around 5 months back. Initially I was a bit skeptical to receive an acer laptop, having heard from friends and colleagues that acer sometimes has performance problems. Nevertheless, I enjoy working on this machine and its quite stable I must say. Of course, I keep it up to date with latest updates, but I have had no problems whatsoever after purchase till date. I do a lot of multi-tasking and have atleast 3 programs open at any time and the system takes it all.
Lets have a quick look at the configuration:
Intel Core duo processor 2.0 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache
upto 384MB ATI Mobility
1GB DDR2
15.4" WXGA acer crystalbrite LCD
160GB HDD
DVD-Super Multi double layer
802.11 b/g WLAN
The specification is not something to boast about but it gives a good platform for my work and fitted our purchase budget. Its quite economical.
The empowering technology of acer is amazing and definitely gives more easier access to system information, wireless, media etc. I specifically like the acer e-audio management for sound and quality.
It has digital dolby surround sound and gives a excellent output with headphones installed.
The acer game zone has great games for gamers with trial games and purchase options. I enjoyed playing the Mystery case files. Although this configuration is not very ideal for full time gamers, its ok for playing games sometimes.
Acer Gridvista is an other option which I use often for opening 4 windows at the same time on a single screen shot. It creates a very easy work platform avoiding clicking/switching between windows thus saving time.
I have some problems with the keyboard sometimes, as while typing fast the shift key presses on its own very often and I find typing words somewhere else.
The Signalup technology of the laptop provides very good wireless signal detection. As my work suggests, I have to be online most of the time and I have a wireless service. I have had no signal detection problem with Wlan (acer e-net management).
This acer model has a very user friendly layout and cool look.
One important thing, you have to be sure to always use the acer recovery system incase of formatting or reinstalling stuff because if it is done otherwise the laptop gives lots of errors and does not deliver the performance expected.
I recommend acer for potential buyers. Its packed with power and will fit the budget too.
