Dell Latitude D630 laptop review

I've had several laptops in the past; a couple Toshiba's, Digital and a Gateway, but ths has been my first Dell. I've been very happy with the performance of this device. This device is feature rich with great battery life.

This unit has dual core Pentium 2GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM. It has four USB ports, wireless WiFi plus Bluetooth and CD/DVD combo with RW capabilities.

One of the best things about this laptop is the battery life. I travel quite a bit for work and this unit does the trick. Even while watching a movie I get 4 hours + on a full battery. The Latitude D630 is snappy and light which for travelers is nice. Another nice feature is that on battery power it doesn't over heat like other popular brands. On some of those units it gave off so much heat you could fry an egg on them.

The Latitude D630 is great for business applications. I'm running custom applications, SQL Server and full Office Suite and I have had zero issues with performance. As anyone that is familiar with SQL Server it can severely hamper PC performance, but at least in my experience that has not been the case.

The 15" screen has great resolution and is one of the best I've ever used. It is great in bright light and reacts well to light reflection scenarios. The fan is also very quiet compared to other laptops I have used, some of them sound like a plane is taking off.

I have not used this for gaming situations so I can't respond to how it performs under gaming conditions, but as I stated earlier it handles my workload without a hitch. The Dell Latitude D630 has very useful pre-loaded Dell Accessories, such as Roxio CD/DVD creator, Google bundle (spyware, antivirus, etc) and Quicken to just name a few.

The cost of the unit was moderate but that was partly because the Latitude D630 comes with many add-ons, such as a spare batteries (very nice to have for stand by) and a port replicator (It is so nice not having to unplug everything from my desk ever time I want to go mobile. A port replicator is a MUST for office workers that need to stay mobile).

Overall, I give this laptop an A. It's feature rich and it's performance has been excellent. It's light weight, durable, has a sleek design, moderately priced and has very useful Dell "add-ons".
