It's a real time strategy game which takes place in space with major battles and complicated economics and politics. There are three factions which you can play and neutral pirates which you can pay them to disturb an opponent during gameplay. Game features lots of opportunities when it comes to politics between factions. Your opponents can ask you for a favor(like killing another players buildings/ships) in exchange for money or anyhting else and these things makes the whole game more exciting. One of the biggest issues of this game is it takes along time to finish only 1 match. In my case shortest match was 2 hours long. Learning the game also takes a while. But these wont stop hardcore strategy players. To be honest it was a bit encouraging in my case. So lets get back to the game play. You basically chose a map which is a solar system with various astroids and planets on it. Then you choose your race (Advent, Vasari or TEC) and opponents if you are playing skirmish. All three races have different capital ships and technology trees so they have some major differences but there isnt a vast amount of difference in gameplay. So lets move onto gameplay. You start with a capital planet in your possesion and few ships. There are three basic resources. Metal which you obtain by mining metal asteroids, Crystal is also mined from crsytal asteroids and money which you obtain by developing your planets and trading. Maps are formed drom asteroids,planets and big stars which is sitting at the center of the map. Those nodes are connected via space lanes. So when you need to move your fleet from a planet to another you are limited with those space lanes and believe me it may drive you crazy in some situations. You can build 3 type of ships during the game and each ship needs personnel, money, metal and crystal to be built. You can obtain personnel by using research screen which features 2 main technological trees and supply researchs. When we get to the best part of the game here we have capital ships! Huge ships with great firepower and utility. It fells great to watch those big ships at battle. nevermind the other cruisers and fighters! Each faction features 5 type of catpital ships which features various roles. Some of them provide immense firepower and some of them provide buffs and utility. So you build your armada and battle through your opponents to take over your solar system.
Conclusion
Sins of a Solar empire is big RTS game which is very entertaining and very very good at multiplayer games. But as i said it takes a lot to learn and master the game. So if you are a hardcore RTS player this games is clearly awesome else this game deserves to be tried for sure!
