Story
Tiger Woods PGA Tour, 08 is just that. It's a golf course where you play golf. You can challenge Tiger Woods, John Daly, along with others. There are several game modes that you can play without just playing a straight golf game like so many other PC games. Two of these are the "Tiger Challenge" and play the PGA Tour to win the FedEx Cup Championship. One of the best features is when you play this game there is a tracking feature that grades your performance on every hole, every round, and every golf course. Two of these are:
The Tiger Challenge - is a short nine hole game with challenges along the way. You go up against some of the best players in the world to win medals, and obtain rewards to increase your game scores.
The PGA Tour - you start out as a new golfer struggling to break 100 so that you can move up into the ranks, as you seek to win the FedEx Cup.
Features
This is one of the best PC golf games I have ever played. You can choose the country club that you would like to play at, along with being able to choose everything to go along with your profile. You create your own profile from your age, color of hair, to what clothes you will wear. Once into the game, the features are fantastic! The animation/sounds on this game are so life like; it makes you feel as if you are on the golf course. From the birds singing, to the "ping" of the ball hitting the cup, you feel like you are there. If you make a fantastic shot, the game stops to give you a replay of your shot. You choose your shot type based on each circumstance. You can connect to the internet and play actual tournaments, along with getting help if you are stumped.
Difficulty of game
This is not just another easy PC golf game where you sit down and play. It does take a little practice to swing the clubs and get the correct shot that you want. There is a practice mode to practice your long game, short game, special shots, along with putting. During these sessions you are able to become familiar with your clubs. Once thing I have noticed, you do have to make your shot. In some other PC golf games, if you get within 10 feet of the hole the computer sucks the ball into the hole. Not this one!! You do make the shot. You make your shots based on a Confidence Meter. This is an ability to help you make the perfect shot, the riskier your shot, the least is shown on the Confidence Meter.
Overview
My wife purchased this game for me, when I developed arthritis and I couldn't play on the golf course any more. I really thought this game would only make me more frustrated. I have been so satisfied with this game! With its true life animation to practicing the game, it's like I'm right back on the course. I love being able to play with the Big Boys of the golfing world, seeing how my game has improved, along with the ease of using the mouse/keyboard to play. I can play at night, during the day, or whenever I feel like going to the golf course. The only problems that I have had with this game is that it does require the most updated video and sound drivers to get the full effect of the animations and sounds.
