.XXX domains now live

I wish I had a mouse cord that long.  If I did I would wish I
could draw shit like that.  I could make money with a skill
like that.
The new TLD .XXX is now live, and the .XXX domain names are being publicly sold.  With over 100,000 .xxx domains already sold, the adult website industry is gobbling up adult domain names at an astonishing rate.

As of now, pornographic sites will not be limited to the .xxx domain names.  Nor are .xxx domains limited to only pornography.  Putting all pornography on .xxx domain names would make it very easy to control access to pornography by children.  Blocking access to .xxx at the router level would be extremely easy and effective.

This sounds great, but how do we remove porn from .com, .net, etc?  And is this something we should be doing?  I think it most definitely is a step in the right direction.  Opponents of having porn only on .xxx domains would argue that once porn sites are corralled into the .xxx domain, it would be all too easy for governments to blanket-censure the entire industry.

Making the internet safer and content more predictable for children is of greater concern for me.  Keeping all porn sites in the cesspool of the .xxx domain is a step in the right direction.  The major browsers could even have parental locks in place that would have to be unlocked before gaining access to the .xxx domains.

Looking at GoDaddy - the .xxx domains are being marketed two ways.  'Create an adult web presence' being one.  'Protect your brand' being the other.  Public extortion!  Universities, companies and celebrities are in a rush to beat the purveyors of pornography to protect their good name.  It would be interesting to see how many .xxx domains are sold out of fear, rather than sold to start pornographic websites.  Anyone remember whitehouse.com?  It wasn't a tour of the famous house at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Here's a quote from GoDaddy's site - "Perhaps you’d like to create an adult entertainment website. Or maybe you're here to keep your brand from being registered as a .XXX by someone else. Whatever your reasons for wanting a .XXX domain, you’ve come to the right place."

Outright extortion!

So, do you think it will be possible to move all porn to .xxx?  I hope so.
